Glossier Boy Brow has been the holy grail brow gel since its launch – and then Milk Makeup dropped the Kush Fiber Brow Gel. I was curious how the Kush Fiber Brow held up to the favorite Boy Brow, so I picked it up and have been testing it for a while – here are my thoughts!
Glossier Boy Brow in Brown
Boy Brow has always been a favorite – it’s creamy and pigmented, holds my brows in place all day, and makes my brows look fluffier than a cloud. It’s formulated with beeswax and carnauba wax to hold brows in place, oleic acid to nourish and moisturize, lecithin to add a smooth, silky texture, and atelocollagen to help condition and strengthen the hair fiber. It’s super easy to use and comes off easily with my cleansing balm at night. It’s completely fuss-free; it doesn’t make my brows look clumpy and stiff, and I don’t have to clean up after from the gel smearing in random areas. I fill my brows in with a brow pencil beforehand, since I have random sparse areas, and Boy Brow helps to make my brows look completely put together. It’s priced at $16 and the tube is pretty small (0.11 oz), but it lasts me a good few months. I know I’ll repurchase this forever.
Milk Makeup Kush Fiber Brow Gel in Grind
I went to Sephora one day to pick up the Flex Concealer and Matte Bronzer (which I’m both obsessed with), and I figured why the hell not. Grind is the darkest shade – it’s dark brown, which I grabbed since I have dark brown hair, but Grind will definitely work for those with black hair. Since Milk Makeup is a vegan brand, they couldn’t use beeswax, which is commonly used in brow gels – instead, they employ cannabis oil, similar to their Kush Mascara. The cannabis oil works to condition and set the brow hairs, while heart-shaped fibers create fullness and definition. Like Boy Brow, it’s easy to use – swipe, swipe, done. It fills in the brows nicely, and it’s highly pigmented, but it simply lacks the fluffiness that Boy Brow creates. Additionally, it doesn’t hold my brows in place all day – after several hours, my brow hairs have fallen and look disarrayed. I always somehow manage to create weird clumps with the brow gel, and excess, clumpy gel ends up on my skin and I have to clean it up. I don’t want to blame it on the brow gel and believe it’s user error, but I apply it the same way I apply Boy Brow and don’t experience the same issues. At $18 for 0.15 oz (a slightly bigger tube than Boy Brow, but also a couple dollars more), I will definitely use the rest of the tube, but I most likely won’t repurchase.
The Verdict
Kush Fiber Brow Gel is a solid brow gel – it’s nourishing, highly pigmented, and does the job – but it doesn’t create the fluffy effect I’m going for. Boy Brow makes my brows look completely put together – I have no complaints. Boy Brow is the winner in my book and I’ll repurchase forever. Which one do you prefer?
